MGI (MARBLE & GRANITE INTERNATIONAL Co. Ltd.), one of the most important Companies in the world for the processing of marble and granite, has inaugurated a new plant near Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, with the installation of a series of advanced machines for the processing of stone materials. As for the water treatment plant and sludge dewatering, MGI has relied on FRACCAROLI E BALZAN SpA, which, based on decades of experience, has designed, manufactured and installed a system that represents the state of the art in the waste water treatment sector.
The plant consists of two separate circuits. The circuit dedicated to granite gang saws is made up of two decanters mod. FB/5500 V-WDR (diam. 5.5 m) equipped with scraping units and three filter presses mod. FB/1200-25 (25 plates each, plate size 1.2 x 1.2 m). The circuit dedicated to the polishing line and all the other machines (block cutters, multi wire machines, edge polishers, etc.) consists of two decanters mod. FB/8000 V-WD (diam. 8 m), for a total treatment capacity of 15.000 l/min, and three filter presses mod. FB/1000-25 (25 plates each, plate size 1 x 1 m). The clean water storage tanks and related pumps complete the installation.
Both lines are equipped with fully automatic flocculant stations and with devices for the automatic control and dosage of flocculant. This so-called analyzer is continuously monitoring the presence of solid particles in the waste water through the programmed analysis of samples of water and, on the basis of the measured values, automatically adjusts the amount of flocculant introduced in the plant, in order to have an effective settling.
All filter presses are equipped with a robot for automatic washing of the filter clothes, through a system of high pressure nozzles. This device, which enables automatic and programmable washing as needed, can quadruple the life of the clothes.
The plant is also equipped with a system that allows monitoring and tele-assistance, if necessary, directly from the offices of FRACCAROLI E BALZAN SpA.
